Nathan Hodge makes claim of Harriers deal

Hot-shot striker Nathan Hodge today claimed Kidderminster Harriers have offered him a six-month contract to become a full-time footballer.

Hodge has scored more than 30 goals for Haughmond in the West Midlands League Division One - the sixth tier of non-league football - since October.

The 23-year-old has attracted interest from league rivals AFC Telford - before Andy Sinton left as manager yesterday - and Shropshire side Market Drayton.

But the lure of the full-time game sends Harriers to the front of the queue for his services and Drayton boss Jimmy Mullen claims a move is on the cards.

Mullen said: "When the lad told me of Kidderminster's offer, I advised him to take it. Chances like that do not come around very often – especially these days.

"He's got things to talk over with his employers but, if they are okay, I think he must surely go for it."

Harriers borrowed two strikers to add to their ranks on transfer deadline day and both are set to be on the bench for tomorrow's trip to play-off rivals Newport County.

Amari Morgan-Smith, who has joined on a month's loan from league rivals Mansfield, and Cardiff striker Nathaniel Jarvis, a rest of the season capture, will travel to Wales.

Anthony Malbon and Ryan Rowe start in attack while midfielder Callum Gittings is pushing for a start, after returning as a substitute from a knee injury in Tuesday night's 1-0 win at home to AFC Telford.

But Danny Jackman may keep him out after impressing on his debut in the same game, having been brought in to cover the continued absences of captain Keith Briggs and James Vincent, both with knee problems.
