The 23-year-old Cannock-born Albion academy product has agreed on a switch to Keys Park following two impressive campaigns for the Scholars. Cater scored 15 goals before last season’s early curtailment and the Pitmen were among a number of clubs interested in his services.

His signing follows last week’s arrival of former Port Vale striker Dan Turner as Morrell, who was appointed Hednesford’s new manager back in April, continues preparations for a Northern League Premier season which could begin in September.

Cater came through the Baggies youth ranks before joining Kidderminster Harriers in the summer of 2015. He moved on Stafford Rangers six months later and even had a brief stint with Hednesford before joining Chasetown.

In a further boost, midfielder Jack Hallahan has agreed terms to stay with the Pitmen.
