Newcastle Town 1 Halesowen Town 2 - Report

Jack Holmes celebrated his signing for Halesowen this week by scoring the late winner and sending them through to the next round.

The youngster was with them on loan fron Burton Albion last season but joined them on a more permanent basis on Friday.

Without his intervention, Halesowen may not have been in the draw for the first qualifying round this lunchtime. Newcastle were leading through a first half goal by Ryan McLean and Halesowen keeper Brad Catlow had to be at his best to keep them at bay.

But Holmes produced a great cross on 81 minutes for fellow new boy Richard Gregory to head home.

Four minutes from time he dribbled the ball into the box and fire home, sending the visiting supporters home happy.
