Halesowen Town 1 Workington 5 - Report

Rock bottom Halesowen started brightly but collapsed to a 5-1 thumping defeat to Workington.

The Yeltz took a 5th minute lead when Daniel Udoh hit a hard, low shot past static goalkeeper Aaran Taylor from 20 yards.

A 16th minute curling shot from Lee Chilton was then pushed away by Taylor.

But Workington gradually took control to establish a half-time lead.

Scott Allison slotted home his seventh goal of the season after 35 minutes to end a neat move involving Jordan Holt, Conor Tinnion and James Earl.

The Reds were in front just four minutes later when Jack Egan looped home a header off the post following terrible confusion between goalkeeper Dan Platt and his defender Jack Kelly.

The Yeltz defence fell apart again after the interval as Workington hit two more goals in the first six minutes of the second half.

Tinnion sliced an initial shot, but Egan was on hand to slam home his second goal into the roof of the net after 48 minutes.

Workington's fourth goal was a real cracker when David Symington smashed a 51st minute volley into the corner of the net from Allison's ball.

With the game over, Workington cruised to victory and went close again when Tinnion hit the post in the 85th minute.

The Reds made it 5-1 in the second minute of stoppage time when James Earl's clever chip caught out the home defence, allowing Jordan Holt to slot home to complete Halesowen's misery.
