Chasetown 1 Mossley 3 - Report and pictures
A fast opening saw chances at both ends inside the first ten minutes.
First, Will Whieldon forced a save from Mossley number 1 Johnny Diba-Musangu and then Chase keeper Curtis Pond was at full stretch to deny Godwin Adabaki.
Chasetown took the lead in the 28th minute. Muzzy Nduna sprinted through the back line and squared the ball to Whieldon. He drew the keeper and Jack Langston tapped the ball into the open net.
The visitors thought they had levelled in the 55th minute but Referee King deemed there was a foul on Pond.
Ryan Wynter had a great chance to double Chasetown’s lead on the hour but Diba-Musangu blocked with his legs from close range.
Pond denied Adabaki before the visitors were awarded a spot kick for a questionable foul on Ababaki that Max Leonard converted straight down the middle midway through the second half.
Chase lost full back Oli Hayward on a stretcher with 20 minutes remaining.
Three minutes from time Mossley took the lead. A corner was fired across and Andy Keogh fired a right footer beyond Pond.
Chasetown were reduced to ten men when Wynter received a second yellow for a foul.
Mossley made it 3-1 in stoppage time. Liam Ellis capitalised on the man advantage to score from close range.
