Will Whieldon forced a save from a free kick before Jack Langston struck the crossbar all inside the first 6 minutes.

Chasetown doubled their lead in the 20th minute. George Cater motored into the box and was brought down by goalkeeper Colin Lewis and birthday boy Langston converted the penalty sending the keeper the wrong way.

The hosts needed to win to ensure they avoided a tricky away play off to Frickley or Stamford and scored a third goal in the 38th minute. Wellecomme got his shot away, Lewis saved but Whieldon drilled home despite the attempts of a defender on the line.

Substitute Muzzy Nduna was straight into the action at the start of the second half and drew a foul to earn Chasetown’s second spot kick of the afternoon.

Again Langston made no mistake with the penalty.

Langston completed his second hat trick of the season with an audacious lob from the half way line with 7 minutes remaining.

There was still time for a further celebration as club captain Spencer Gunnell returned after 7 months out injured.
