The first half was devoid of few clear cut goalscoring chances, but the best two came in the closing minutes of the half for the visitors.

First, Ryan Wynter was a whisker wide after the home goalkeeper punched a corner away.

Then Wynter headed goalwards right on the whistle with goalkeeper Michael Duggan getting there a split second ahead of Jake Lovatt.

Spalding took the lead 7 minutes into the second half when Josh Sedgley was adjudged to have fouled Jenk Acar and Gary King converted the penalty.

Chasetown sub Will Whieldon almost levelled the scores with a 25 yard free kick which rustled the side netting next to the angle of post and crossbar.

But Spalding doubled their lead in the 79th minute with a Nathan Whitehead volley that wrong footed goalkeeper Curtis Pond, assuring they took all three points.
