Khalsa boss is left frustrated after weekend without a game

Sporting Khalsa boss Ian Rowe has been left frustrated by a lack of match action over the next two weeks after seeing their unbeaten run ended.

Rowe’s Midland Premier table-toppers are not playing this weekend, or next weekend.

It comes after a 2-0 defeat to second-placed Long Eaton United, ending a nine-game unbeaten streak, last weekend – which, in an ideal world, they would have an opportunity to quickly bounce back from.

But Rowe explained: “We don’t play now until a week on Tuesday. We should have been playing Boldmere St Michaels tomorrow but they’ve got a Covid issue.

“Then we were supposed to be playing Gresley Rovers but they’re in the FA Vase, so it’s been rearranged for the Tuesday.

“We’re trying to organise a friendly for tomorrow but most teams are playing, of course, so there’s been no takers. We have got one pencilled in for Tuesday against Willenhall though.

“It’s frustrating as we want to keep playing games and it’s disappointing after last Saturday as it wasn’t a true reflection of how we can play.”

Rowe believes his side got a ‘bit desperate’ against Long Eaton, but feels they are in a healthy state overall.

“A little bit frustrating, but had we been offered this start – eight wins, a draw and a loss – we would’ve taken it,” he added.

“We’ve just got try to get back to winning ways when we’re back playing. Ultimately, we’re in a good place and we’ve just got to do what we did in the previous nine games.”

While Khalsa are out of action, Walsall Wood are hoping to follow up a 4-0 win at Heather St John’s in midweek with another victory over Coventry United at Oak Park, while AFC Wulfrunians are taking on Tividale at Castlecroft.

In Division One, Brocton are aiming to get one over nearby rivals Heath Hayes.

Bilston Town want to keep their charge towards the top in the West Midlands Premier going as they host Wem. Smethwick Rangers, having lost all six, are out to get off the mark against Dudley Town.
