McDonald: We're still in the hat

Rushall Olympic boss Liam McDonald is in a positive mood despite being pegged back twice to draw at Sutton Coldfield Town in the FA Cup.

The Pics had Ben Lund and skipper Ashley Sammons find the net but, ultimately, their defence proved too 'frail' to pick up the win.

The first qualifying round replay is at Dales Lane on Monday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

"It's our luck at the minute. We don't seem to have much going for us," said McDonald.

"I thought we should've probably been three up at half-time, with the number of chances we created.

"We were a bit frail at times but, look, we're not disappointed.

"Before the game, everybody wanted to be in the hat for the next round - and we are.

"We just have to make sure we perform like we did in the first half on Monday night."

Jordan Nadat cancelled out Lund's strike. James Beresford scored late on to make it 2-2.

"It literally was a game of two halves," added McDonald.

"I thought in the first half we dominated, massively.

"In the second half, it went to a bit of a tennis match - back and forth. It was really open and I'm disappointed we made it that way because we could have stopped it.

"Sutton deserved something out of the game with what they did in the second half. It's not a problem. We've just got to make sure we're better on Monday."
