Boro won this instalment of El Staffico 3-2, in front of the best part of 1,000 fans at Stoke's Bet365 Stadium.

It is the second time Kitching and his assistant Nick Amos, who are leaving at the end of the season, have guided the club to county cup glory - also doing so in 2015.

"It is nice, and especially nice as me and Nick are moving on in a week's time. You want to win, no matter the situation," said Kitching.

"This is our realistic opportunity of putting some silverware on the board.

"We've always said we wanted to move the club forward, which we have done.

"We've brought around 500 or 600 fans and we've won something for them. We did enough and got over the line."

Jack Sherratt, Kyle Perry and Rob Thompson-Brown got the goals for Rangers.

Reflecting on his four years at the helm, Kitching said: "It's been thoroughly enjoyable, we've loved every minute of it.

"I'm over the moon for the fans as they've backed us massively over the four years, and I think we've given a bit back."

Amos added: "It was a real special night for us and a nice way to finish our time at Stafford Rangers, and put that down as a marker."
