Danny Cocks and George Cater were dominating wing play with no end product of clear goalscoring chances.

Cleethorpes best chance came when Brody Robertson beat the offside trap and Curtis Pond dashed out to save superbly.

It was no surprise though when Chasetown took the lead in the 35th minute. A looping header from Nick Wellecomme almost in slow motion came back off the post and over the line - his 50th goal for the Scholars.

The hosts started the second half more brightly and Robertson levelled after finding space in the box.

Within minutes The Owls then struck the top of the Scholars crossbar.

Chasetown got a grip of the game again and earned a free kick right on the D which Will Whieldon curled inches wide of the upright.

Jack Langston then forced a fingertip save from Birch with 10 minutes left as Chasetown looked to confirm their play off place today with a win.
