Matlock Town 2 Rushall Olympic 1 - Report

The Pics got off to a flier thanks to another wonder goal by Mathis Fonovich after 30 seconds. The French man won a strong challenge with a Matlock midfielder before looking up and lobbing an effort over the helpless Richard Walton in goal from 30 yards out.

The Gladiators looked dangerous after the goal, and Rushall keeper Bobby Biddle was forced into a good save to deny Ricky German from a narrow angle on 14 minutes.

The young keeper, on an emergency loan from West Brom, made another decent save on the half hour mark. Biddle got down well to block a fierce Harry Limb effort.

Matlock equalised in the 64th minute when Michael Williams nodded the ball into the bottom corner. Moments earlier Biddle pulled off a fine save to deny German, but the ball ended up down the right where a cross was played in for the Gladiators midfielder to head home.

The home side completed the turnaround on 84 minutes. A ball over the top caught Rushall out, and Chris Ondong-Mba latched on to it before cutting inside and sliding a shot past Biddle into the bottom corner.
