Wolverhampton Casuals are aiming to extend their unbeaten run in the West Midlands League Premier to six games as they make the short trip to Bilston Town tomorrow.

Mark Holdcroft’s charges finished second last season and had a rocky start to this campaign.

They lost their first three games but have picked up four wins and a draw – 3-3 with Tividale this past weekend – since to move up to ninth.

“We should have got all three points on Saturday but we are happy with the run,” said Holdcroft.

“Everyone is out to beat us now after how we did last season.

“And Bilston will be tough – they know a lot about us, we know a lot about them.

“Their captain, Todd Perry, used to play for us.”

Bilston are two places below having played two more games.

Holdcroft added: “We have got a few players coming back from injuries and suspensions and there is a lot of competition, which is what you want.

“One of the lads coming back is (striker) Kevin Nickle, who has only played once this season.

“I am trying to get a left-back in before the game as well. We want to keep the run going, we have to aim high.”

At the top of the pile are Wolverhampton Sporting, who have won all eight games.

They saw off Hereford Lads Club 6-1 on Tuesday night and host second-from-bottom Stone Old Alleynians.

Black Country Rangers are second after losing just one – to Sporting – of their 11 outings. They head to Bewdley Town.

Meanwhile, a tier above in the Midland League Premier, Sporting Khalsa are in a bouyant mood ahead of hosting Westfields.

Ian Rowe’s side are on a four-game unbeaten run, the latest result being a 5-0 thrashing of Boldmere St Michaels.

They have picked up 15 points from nine games.

On the same amount are Lye Town, who head to Rocester.

AFC Wulfrunians are too and travel to in-form Coventry United.

In Division One, ambitious Walsall Wood are no longer leading the way.

Despite having lost just one of their seven games – winning the rest – they are four points behind Studley, who have played two more.

Managed by former Hednesford Town chief Gary Birch, and having the likes of former Walsall winger Peter Till in the playing ranks, they head to Racing Cub Warwick.

Towards the bottom are Brocton, who have won two, drawn one and lost three so far. They will hope to move up the table by getting a victory at Hinckley AFC.
