Boss Neil Kitching admits Stafford Rangers must start backing up their away form by getting results at home.

Rangers have enjoyed success on the road in the early weeks of the season, taking eight points from four league games, following up Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 FA Cup win at Peterborough Sports with a 1-1 draw at Halesowen Town on Tuesday night.

But at home it has been a different story with Kitching’s men losing two out of three at Marston Road, a record the manager wants to improve starting with Saturday’s game against Witton Albion.

“It’s been more down than up at home and that has to change,” said Kitching.

“When we go and get a decent point on the road like we did at Halesowen, we have to back it up on our own patch.

“We’ve changed the shape a little the last two games and it seems to be working well. We are now looking for a decent crowd and a big performance on Saturday.”

Jack Sherratt’s equaliser eight minutes from time earned Rangers a point at struggling Halesowen, though Kitching thought the performance was worthy of more.

“I thought we were the better team. We had a what I thought was a good goal disallowed and might also have had a penalty,” he said.

“It’s a solid point on the road. There are no easy games in this league.”
