Winger Matt Dodd has left Hednesford Town and re-joined former club Stourbridge.

In what is a huge boost for the Glassboys – and an equally big blow for the rival Pitmen – Dodd has opted for a return to Amblecote just weeks after leaving.

Dodd was a key player in Stour’s historic run to the third round of the FA Cup last season, scoring nine goals in 85 appearances over the course of two campaigns with the club.

He made just six appearances for Hednesford this season, scoring the only goal in Monday’s derby win over Stafford Rangers before announcing his decision to depart.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have Matt back, and he’s delighted to be back himself,” said Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett. “He gives us something extra that we’ve perhaps been lacking so far this season.”

Dodd was not signed in time to be eligible for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Loughborough Dynamo. Stour have also signed winger Pierce Kiembi from Chasetown, along with midfielder Alex Solomon.
