Kidderminster Harriers sign Huddersfield's Horsfall on loan after duo depart

Kidderminster Harriers have completed the signing of Huddersfield defender Fraser Horsfall following the shock departures of Liam Daly and Cieron Keane.

The duo, who had both joined Harriers this summer, had their contracts at Aggborough cancelled by mutual consent within the space of 48 hours.

Daly has returned to former club Solihull Moors, while Keane is expected to stay in National League North with Alfreton Town.

Harriers quickly moved to seal the loan capture of 20-year-old Horsfall, who had a recent spell with Gateshead, in time for Saturday’s home game with Boston.

Horsfall has agreed a deal which will keep him at Aggborough until January.

“We are working as hard as we can to bring players in,” said boss John Eustace. “But as always we must make sure they are the right players who can improve what we already have.”

Daly’s departure on Wednesday night had already increased the need for Harriers to find defensive cover, with Keane then leaving a day later.

It is understood Daly had struggled with the switch to full-time football for the first time in his career. Eustace added: “We have let Dales go because it was just not working out.

“That is football. His attitude could not be questioned, he was a fantastic pro and is a cracking lad. We wish him all the best.”

Eustace will check on the fitness of full-back Joel Taylor and midfielder Dan Bradley ahead of Boston’s visit, after both men missed Monday’s 2-0 defeat at Brackley.

Harriers are meanwhile due for a five-figure cash windfall following former winger Marvin Johnson’s transfer from Oxford to Middlesbrough.
