The Brazilian midfielder has started all six Premier League games so far this campaign after helping to keep Dean Smith’s side up at the end of last term.
And the 22-year-old feels both he and the squad as a whole can have a superb year, even though the mood has been dampened slightly by successive Premier League losses – after four wins on the spin.
“He considers me to be an important player in the squad, I know what I’m capable of and I know what I can do to help,” said Luiz.
“I think we have what it takes to have a great season.
“I’ll be there to support my team-mates, train hard and give my all in games.
“I’m very happy at the moment, the team are in a good place.”
He added: “The last two games didn’t go as expected because we want to get points at home, but we can’t let ourselves get off track and think that it’s all going wrong.
“We have four wins out of six, we are doing well.”
