Kinsella, 26, turns out for National League side Aldershot Town and sustained the serious injury in the friendly against Ebbsfleet two weeks ago.

The left-back requires surgery and will be sidelined for six months having not long recovered from a similar period of injury.

Kinsella, who had a loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers in 2016, has set up a fundraiser to pay back Aldershot for their support in his rehabilitation.

And Villa skipper Grealish chipped in with £2,000 to take the total to £2,780.

Kinsella wrote: “I have decided to set up a GoFundme page in an attempt to raise some money to pay the club back for the operation and fund the rehabilitation to get me back as quickly and as ‘fixed’ as possible.

“It has been a horrendous time for non-league clubs and I would like to do as much as I can to help the club financially as they have done for me over the last 3 years !”
