Terry set up a Just Giving page earlier this month which has already pulled in more than £200,000 for the NHS and the Make-a-Wish foundation.

And the five-time Premier League winner has now opened an eBay auction featuring 12 items from his football collection.

They include a signed Chelsea shirt from the 2015-16 season and a signed Premier League captain’s armband.

Terry explained: “For me it is all about giving back. I’m using my social media now to try and gain publicity because I want to raise as much money as possible.

“A lot of players want to keep their charity work private, like I have done for the last 20 years.

“But now is a chance to really get on the front foot and use my five million followers on Instagram and say: ‘Guys, I need your help’. Lots of people have stepped up.”
