Tammy Abraham leaves door open regarding Aston Villa return

The striker netted 26 goals on-loan for Dean Smith's side as they secured promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

Whilst Villa have already snapped up fellow loan success Anwar El Ghazi, hope to sign Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings, and are expected to confirm the return of Kortney Hause in due course - Abraham's future is still up in the air.

Contracted to Chelsea, who are in the midst of an appeal regarding a two-window transfer ban - and reportedly set to see boss Maurizio Sarri depart for Juventus, Abraham could feature in the first-team plans at Stamford Bridge this season.

The 21-year-old admits he cannot be sure of where he's playing his football over this campaign, stating that a return to Villa Park could be an option.

"You can never say never," he said, speaking to Sky Sports News when asked about whether a return to B6 could happen.

"Chelsea is obviously the club that I have been at since a young age so the aim is to try and breakthrough there.

"Like I say, you can never say never. We'll see how things look."

Villa's return to Premier League action edged closer this week, with the club learning their fixture list. Smith's side will travel to Spurs on the opening weekend in what's sure to be a tough test for the freshly-promoted side.

Chelsea meanwhile face a blockbuster clash with Manchester United on the opening weekend. Abraham says he kept an eye on both sets of fixtures when they were revealed.

Villa have already begun strengthening in forward areas this summer, this week agreeing a deal to sign Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes in a £22m deal, subject to a work permit. Should Abraham return, the pair would likely face a battle for the starting spot up-front.
