Dean Smith’s team will travel to face the Bundesliga club on Saturday, August 3 (kick-off 3.30pm local time) in what is their final friendly ahead of their Premier League return.

Leipzig will play in this season’s Champions League following a third place finish in the German top flight last term.

It will be Villa’s second trip to Germany in a little more than 12 months, after they faced 2.Bundesliga outfit Dynamo Dresden prior to the start of last season.

They also played in the Cup of Traditions, a pre-season tournament held at MSV Duisburg, in 2017.

The match completes a pre-season schedule which begins on Wednesday, July 17 when Villa take on Minnesota United following a US training camp.

They then face local fixtures at Shrewsbury on Sunday, July 21 (kick-off 2pm) and Walsall on Wednesday, July 24 (kick-off 7.45pm), before a trip to Charlton on Saturday, July 27 (kick-off 3pm).
