Benrahma was signed by Brentford last summer when Villa boss Dean Smith was in charge of the Bees.

He enjoyed an impressive first season in England, scoring 11 goals and setting up 17 more.

Villa’s top target for the wing is Nottingham Forest’s Lolley, who was involved in 23 goals himself last season.

The former Kidderminster Harriers player is a Villa fan who used to sit in the Holte End, but is expected to cost in excess of £10million.

He was also on Albion’s radar in January, having signed for Forest when Baggies technical director Luke Dowling was there.

But the former Huddersfield player signed a new four-year deal with Forest in February.

Meanwhile, Anwar El Ghazi has agreed to sign permanently after Villa exercised their £8m option on the Egyptian.

El Ghazi impressed on a season long loan from French club Lille last season.
