There is no love lost between vice-chairman Tony Xia and former chief executive Keith Wyness as the duo took swipes at each other on social media following Aston Villa's play-off final win at Wembley.

With all eyes on the players following promotion at the third time of asking, it was Xia's celebration tweet that seemed to irk Wyness, who labelled his former colleague a 'fraud.'

Xia's presence ruffled more than a few feathers after the Chinese businessman's cash crisis put the club on the brink of administration before the arrival of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.

But the 42-year old was in bullish mood at the final whistle, tweeting his joy and claiming he kept his promise of promotion - a message that did not go down with Wyness.

In turn, Xia tweeted what appeared to be a response to Wyness, saying, 'You can see through one's deepest dark in human nature...' which was also accompanied with a snake emoji.

Wyness, 61, is in the process of suing Villa for constructive dismissal following his exit last summer.

Meanwhile joint owner Nassef Sawiris said, "The sky is the limit, with such a fanbase and such a great squad. We've seen that with great management.

"Our ambition was not just to get promoted but to do well in the Premier League.

"It just feels great to be able to do something for all these great fans behind us."
