Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan has joined Sheffield United on-loan for the rest of the season.

The Republic of Ireland striker has struggled to break into Dean Smith's starting XI due to the form of Tammy Abraham, appearing in just six league games all season - failing to score.

He joined Villa in January 2017 under Steve Bruce, struggling to replicate the form he showed for Brentford which pushed the Villans to splash £12m to secure his services.

The Blades currently sit third in the Championship table, seven places and nine points ahead of Villa.

"I'm finally here and I can't wait to get started." Hogan said.

"There's no hiding from the fact it's been a difficult time at Villa, I've been there two years and had relative success, but personally it didn't really happen for me."

Hogan joins Corey Blackett-Taylor, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Callum O'Hare in departing B6 on-loan this month.
