Villa Park will be full to capacity of more than 41,000 fans for the Championship clash, which kicks off at noon.
It will be the first derby in charge of Villa for boyhood fan Dean Smith, who took over last month following the dismissal of Steve Bruce.
Under Bruce, Villa won last season’s fixture 2-0 at Villa Park thanks to second-half goals from Albert Adomah and Conor Hourihane.
Blues midfielder Cheikh Ndoye was sent off in the closing minutes.
