The Baggies enter the competition in the first round next season after finishing bottom of the Premier League. Stoke and Swansea, who were also relegated, enter in the second round.

It is Albion's first senior meeting with Luton, who were promoted from League Two last year, for more than a decade, and will be only their third senior fixture with The Hatters in 20 years.

Aston Villa have been drawn away at League Two Yeovil Town, while Birmingham City were drawn away at fellow Championship side Reading.

Walsall were drawn away at League Two Tranmere Rovers, who were promoted out of the National League via the play-offs last season.

It means the Saddlers’ new striker, Andy Cook, will be returning to Prenton Park following his free transfer from Tranmere to Walsall this summer.

Round One fixtures are due to take place during the second week of the EFL season commencing on Monday, August 13.

The majority of ties will take place on Tuesday, August 14, and Wednesday, August 15.

Extra-time has been removed, so should the score remain level after 90 minutes, penalty kicks will take place.

The format of the penalty shoot-out will revert to the traditional format, as opposed to the ABBA concept trialled last season.

The draw took place in Veitnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and was made by former Real Madrid and Liverpool winger Steve McManaman, ex-Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise, and former Manchester United striker Louis Saha.
