Nottingham Forest 0 Aston Villa 1 - player ratings
Scott Hogan bagged the only goal as Villa won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest to climb fourth in the Championship.
Here we rate the players following the third straight league win for Steve Bruce's team.
Did what little he had to do well. Only once seriously tested when Kieran Dowell let fly with five minutes remaining. 7/10
Drove forward well, particularly in the first-half. More than played his part in an organised defensive effort. 7/10.
Arguably the biggest surprise of the game was seeing Chester misplace a pass in the second half. Otherwise excellent. 7/10.
Back playing in the Championship for the first time in more than two months, Villa’s skipper looked like he had never been away. 8/10.
A player who has spent most of his career on the right wing now looks at home on the left. Another strong performance. 7/10.
Looked fresher than in recent performances and was playing well until being forced off at the break by injury. 7/10.
Kept things ticking over nicely in the middle of the park. Saw a couple of shots blocked. 6/10.
Sent a right-footed shot curling inches wide of the post. Another lively performances from a player in form. 7/10.
The quietest of Villa’s attacking players. Frequently involved and linked well with Grealish but his final ball was a disappointment. 6/10.
The £12million striker has found form at the ideal time. Superb movement to get on the end of Snodgrass’s brilliant cross. 7/10.
STAR MAN: Robert Snodgrass
A constant menace. Created the goal with a brilliant cross and was unlucky not to score himself with a well-struck free-kick. Won countless free-kicks to help Villa kill the game off. 8/10.
Birkir Bjarnason (for Whelan, HT)
Arguably his brightest 45 minutes in a Villa shirt. Buzzed around the midfield and put in several key challenges. 7/10.
Keinan Davis (for Hogan, 83 mins)
Brought on to help hold the ball up.
Neil Taylor (for Adomah, 90 mins)
The briefest of cameos.
Subs not used: Elphick, Lansbury, Onomah, Bunn (gk).
