Double joy for Aston Villa
Aston Villa lifted their first trophy of the season after winning the Cup of Traditions with victory over Hertha Berlin – and were boosted by positive injury news from star striker Jonathan Kodjia.
The claret and blues beat Hertha Berlin 2-0 yesterday with goals from new signing Chris Samba and captain-for-the-day Gabby Agbonlahor.
Meanwhile, striker Kodjia lifted Villa spirits further with a social media message saying he was well on the way to fitness after a suffering broken ankle in the final game of the season at Blackburn.
Last season’s top scorer said: “Don’t want to put a time on it but on good way to recovery now.”
