Touring trouble as Aston Villa pick up a third injury
Aston Villa's pre-season German tour has run into more problems as injuries continue to disturb the build-up to the new campaign.
Aleksander Tonev joined fellow new-boy Jores Okore on the treatment table last night after Villa shared a second successive 1-1 draw, this time against Paderborn, for which Gabby Agbonlahor was also missing. Tonev has a thigh strain, Agbonlahor is thought to have jarred his knee and all three are expected to miss Sunday's tour finale at Bochum.
Manager Paul Lambert gave a senior first-team debut to Josh Webb, the 19-year-old from Stourbridge, at right-back in the first half after he jetted out to replace Okore.
Fellow Bodymoor Heath graduates Samir Carruthers and Graham Burke were also involved.
But star of the night was Andreas Weimann who provided the second-half equaliser when he rounded )the keeper after a quick break.
Villa's American owner Randy Lerner was joined by another Statesider last night when US car parts billionaire Shahid Khan bought Fulham, ending Mohamed Al Fayed's 16-year stint at Craven Cottage.
