Brett Holman's Aston Villa future in doubt

Brett Holman today insisted he will be forced to leave Aston Villa if he fails to end his first-team exile.

The Australia ace has not started for Villa since January. Holman, currently Down Under with the Socceroos ahead of Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Japan, made just 17 starts after arriving from AZ Alkmaar last year.

And the midfielder admitted he may have to quit after being frozen out.

He said: "I'm going to knuckle down for the next few weeks and then think about my future. Maybe I have to make a decision.

"There wasn't much verbal contact with the manager. Whether he had that with other players, I don't know, but there wasn't an explanation why it went the way it went.

'It's frustrating, and I'd be crazy to say I'm happy sitting on the bench."
