Andreas Weimann: Villa full of confidence

Andreas Weimann claimed his Villa team-mates head to Manchester City this weekend without any fear and insisted lightning can strike twice at the Etihad Stadium.

Villa knocked City out of the Capital One Cup in September thanks to a 4-2 away win in extra time and Weimann was upbeat about his side's chances of another upset against the Premier League champions.

"We went there in the cup and got a win. It's definitely going to be a really hard game but we're going to go there after the performance against Manchester United with a lot of confidence," said Weimann, who scored both of Villa's goals against the Red Devils.

"I'm sure that if we play like that we've got a chance of getting something. You saw against United that we were capable of going 2-0 up and we should have got something.

"We don't have fear and we shouldn't have. The last few weeks we've got confidence because we've won a couple of games. We know one of those was against Swindon, but as a young team, if you win a game then you'll get confidence.

"I think you've seen the way we played against Manchester United, at the moment we think we can take on anyone and I'm sure next week at Manchester City we'll be the same.

"The training ground last week everyone was buzzing because we'd won two games and it was brilliant. If we can keep playing like that we'll get a few more wins soon enough."

The Austria international has been utilised by Paul Lambert as part of an attacking trio behind Christian Benteke in a 4-2-3-1 system, but revealed he will play wherever the Villa manager wants him to if he remains in the starting line-up.

"Obviously, I'd say my best position's up front, but I really like this role because what the gaffer wants me to do is come inside and make runs in behind Christian," added Weimann.

"I like it and it's worked in the last couple of weeks so hopefully I can keep my place there. I'm happy to run for the team, work hard for the team and help out defensively if I need to.

"I'm getting chances in this position so I'm happy to play there if the manager keeps picking me."
