Confident Villa look for double win bonus

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar today urged his team-mates to show greater self belief as they look to record back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since May 2011.

The claret and blues failed to win two league matches in a row under ex-boss Alex McLeish last season, but that run could come to end at Southampton tomorrow following their 2-0 win over Swansea.

And the Dutch defender is confident Villa can match any team on their day.

"We're a fairly young team but we're a team with plenty of football in us," said Vlaar.

"We have to believe in ourselves and be in the right mindset because we can get a good result against any team.

"After those first two losses, we had to change something, and people can see we have. It's not easy because we have a lot of new players but hopefully this team will grow and grow.

Southampton are bottom of the table having lost all four of their games so far and Vlaar, 27, insisted morale in the squad is good among the squad ahead of the trip to St Mary's.

"How far can this team go? I don't know. We just live from one game to another."
