Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan was today declared available for the Premier League clash with Norwich by manager Alex McLeish following his return to training.

The Scotland international had been suspended by the club, as they undertook an internal investigation into an alleged drink driving incident after his arrest by police on October 23.

But Villa have lifted the suspension and McLeish confirmed that the 21-year-old will be in contention to face the Canaries at Villa Park on Saturday, provided his fitness is up to scratch.

McLeish said: "We'll see how the week unfolds because he's not trained for 10 days, so he's missed a fair bit. He will be assessed tomorrow and Friday.

"He came back yesterday and trained with the fitness guy Adrian Lamb. But we will maybe have him back in with the group tomorrow."
