Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given today admitted Euro 2012 could be his last chance of playing at a major tournament again for the Republic of Ireland.

Ireland go into matches against Andorra and Armenia are two points behind Russia, who play Slovakia and Andorra in their last two matches, in Group B.

And the 35-year-old is realistic enough to know that the 2014 World Cup in Brazil might be beyond him.

He said: "It's too early to say when my last one is, but I know there are not many left, to be honest. Playing in the World Cup in 2002 was one of the highlights of my career and it would be nice to get back to a major tournament.

"I didn't think it would take as long but we are not there yet. It would be fantastic for the whole of Ireland. The country needs a lift, it's a bit flat at moment, and if the team can do that, it would be great."
