The Tipton-born player, known as ‘Yozza’, has been drawn against Austrian Zoran Lerchbacher for his Ally Pally debut.

Lerchbacher is ranked 61st in the world and, should Hughes overcome that test, he will face the 21st seed Krzysztof Ratajski, known as the ‘Polish Eagle.’

Meanwhile, current PDC champion Michael van Gerwen will face either Jelle Klaasen or Kevin Burness.

Grand Slam winner Gerwyn Price will play either William O’Connor or Marko Kantele.

The championships will run from December 12 until January 1.
