The 23-year-old, who made his England limited overs debut last year, has agreed a deal which will keep him at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Mousley has been with the Bears since the age of 10 and has established himself as a key member of the senior squad, becoming a key member of the T20 Blast team in particular.

“I’ve been a Bear as a fan and player all my life, this Club means a hell of a lot to me so to extend my contract at Edgbaston is amazing,” said Mousley.

“For me there’s no better place to play cricket than Edgbaston. And it’s extra special being a local boy.

“I’ve been to so many Bears games as a kid, watching them play. It’s a wonderful thing to pull on a Warwickshire shirt. To know I’ll be doing it for at least another three seasons means a lot. And it’s important for my family as well who’ve backed me all the way.

“They’ve taken me to training at Edgbaston’s Indoor School, to games at Portland Road, to all the away matches, ever since I was little. Me getting that first contract, now this one, is testament to all their commitment as well as mine.

“Winning as many games as possible for Warwickshire, and winning trophies, is the focus for me and for all the boys. There’s a good buzz around the place.”

Mousley passed the 1,000-run mark for the Bears in last year’s Blast, while the spinner’s haul of 36 wickets over the past two tournaments and some standout performances with bat and ball earned him a first senior England call-up.

He featured in four IT20s and three ODIs – where he averages 34.50 having hit a maiden international 50 – on the white ball tour of the Caribbean.

His aim now is to bring some silverware to Edgbaston.

“A home final in the Blast would be amazing,” he added. “The occasion, the atmosphere, the noise at Edgbaston it would be amazing to be part of.

“But I’m a traditionalist at heart so I would love to win the County Championship. We did it in 2021, I didn’t play but I was around the squad then, it was special. To play a part in winning a championship would be incredible.”

First Team Coach Ian Westwood said: "Dan is a local lad who's come through the system and loves the Club.

"He's an exciting three-dimensional cricketer who brings bags of energy to our team."
