The 21-year-old, a product of the club’s academy, departs just eight months after penning a two-year deal at Edgbaston.

Paul Farbrace, sport director at Warwickshire, said: “Aaron has been part of the set-up at Warwickshire from an early age and represented the team in both white ball formats at senior level.

“We now believe that it’s best for Aaron to move on to his next challenge and, on behalf of everyone at Warwickshire CCC, we wish him the very best in his future career.”

Birmingham-born Thomason made 17 List A and 28 T20 appearances for the Bears since moving up from the Warwickshire Academy to sign his first professional contract in 2015.

This season he had been limited to just one outing, in April’s One Day Cup win over Worcestershire. His most recent appearances were for West Bromwich Dartmouth in the Birmingham League.
