The hosts won both tosses and elected to bat first on both occasions.

In the morning, Lincolnshire clubbed their way to 165-8 thanks in part to Urman Ashad, who reached 50 off just 20 balls.

James Cox and Richard Williams each took two wickets although Matthew Morris was the least expensive bowler.

Opener Ryan Hassett made 62 in response, the highest score of the day, but Staffs fell 17 runs short, reaching 148-9.

In the afternoon, Matthew Morris and Billy-Jo Cox each took three wickets to reduce Lincolnshire to 73-7 but an unbeaten eighth-wicket stand of 56 saw the hosts reach 129-7.

Staffordshire never got going in reply, and were skittled out for 72.
