Kadeer Ali shines for Dartmouth

Staffs skipper Kadeer Ali helped West Bromwich Dartmouth to a nine-wicket Birmingham Premier League win over Kidderminster, who slumped from 103-1 to 179 all out

In reply, Ali, who scored a hundred in each innings for the Minor Counties side in the week, remained unbeaten on 76 in 121 balls as Dartmouth cruised home. He and Amit John (68) put on 151 for the first wicket before a quick-fire 23 from Liam Banks finished off the job.

A third ton in four innings from Kiwi George Worker eased Knowle & Dorridge home against Walsall and they now head the table.

Walsall fared better than their previous week’s 32, but could only muster up 168. Worker (104 no) and Alex Phillips (61) saw the visitors home without loss.

Worker, who has played T20 cricket for New Zealand, also took three Walsall wickets (3-18), along with Ateeq Javid (3-27).

Wolverhampton were forced to settle for a draw at Kenilworth Wardens in the closest game of the day after the visitors, who won the toss and opted to field, fell two runs short in their pursuit of 258, but with two wickets left.

Basit Zaman hit 101 in Wardens’ 258-9 with Staffordshire all-rounder Aneesh Kapil picking up 5-37 for Wolverhampton. The visitors were held together by 52 not out from Ramanjot Jaswal and 48 from Will Neild.

Zaman took 3-56, while elder brother Junead – who had earlier knocked 39 not out batting at number nine – claiming 3-59.

In division one, Worcester player Alexei Kervezee shone with a century and three wickets in Bromsgrove’s drawn match at Smethwick.

Kervezee hit 113 from 94 balls in a total of 232, with three wickets apiece for Smethwick’s Mo Sheikh (3-71) and Gurinder Singh (3-81).

In reply, Amrinder Brar top scored with 43 as Smethwick closed on 210 for nine with Kervezee taking 3-34.

Tamworth cruised to an eight wicket win at Himley to go third in the table.

Hosts Himley, out in by Tamworth, were dismissed for 173 with James Rudge claiming 5-29 before Jake Flower (79 not out), Stuart Burrows (53) and another Worcestershire player Joe Clarke (38 not out), fresh from scoring two county championship centuries, eased Tamworth home.
