‘The Tipton Slasher’ has lost three out of four title fights in his career but is unbeaten after his ‘last chance’ return to the ring last October.

Despite facing a tough opponent at the Banks’s Stadium – former WBC international title holder Sean Davies – Glover feels confident for the September 7 fight.

He said: “I could get the job done early, if I get my tactics right. I’ll want to come out looking sharp and try to bully him a bit.”

Glover didn’t box for two years following his last defeat, and admitted this comeback is his ‘last chance in boxing’.

He added: “I’m fit as I’ve ever been, I used to struggle making this weight but I’m smashing through it.”

“I feel like I’ve matured now and everything is coming together. This is a make or break step, but I’ve jumped at it.”

“I was drinking and staying out late, but I’ve turned my life around now.”

Birmingham’s Davies has lost three of his last four bouts and likewise also suffered on the biggest stage having lost three title fights, but has also tasted success, winning the English super bantamweight title in 2016 to go with his WBC belt.

The undercard includes West Bromwich welterweight Tommy Loach, who’s unbeaten after four bouts and drew his last fight despite a ruptured ACL.

Also unbeaten is Selly Oak southpaw Shaka Thompson, who’s looking to record his sixth middleweight win.

Tickets, priced at £35 standard or £65 VIP, are available by calling the Walsall FC Box Office on 01922 651 414, extension 416. It will be £40 for entry on the door.
