It's about levels for Rob Hunt and Sam Evans

'Levels' will be what West Midlands duo Rob Hunt and Sam Evans have to establish when they get back in the ring.

The duo are set for action at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent with different aspirations for 2017,

Former Midlands welterweight champion Hunt, from Stafford, is determined to prove he still has the skills that led him to the area title.

Wednesbury's Evans is keen to display the potential that persuaded boxing legend Ricky Hatton to take him under his wing from he turned pro.

Former two-weight world title winner Hatton again promotes the show on Saturday February 18, as well as working the corner for the 20-year-old welterweight.

'The Hatton' waited until his 11th pro contest to fight for area honours and, with seven wins from seven bouts with four TKOs, Evans' paid career seems to be following a similar trajectory.

'Taffy' first has the experienced Chris Jenkinson to deal with and hopes that he will learn again from on-the-job training.

He said: "I'm looking forward to this, Jenkinson is tough and durable so it will be a good little test for me, but I want to put on a show for my supporters.

"We have a game plan which I plan to stick to, I'm still getting learning fights under my belt and most journeyman come to survive.

"When I step up to taking on some prospects, I'll know I'll find the openings and that's when I'll be getting my opponents out of there more often.

"I follow the game plan that Ricky and the rest of the coaches lay out for me, but getting a TKO win is always a bonus.

"I can feel myself going up levels with the tactics we are using in every camp and from each opponent. I'm always improving and, by the end of the year, I want some sort of title."

Hunt, a pro for nearly 11 years, is looking to bounce back from a points defeat to William Warburton at the same venue last October.

The 31-year-old was area boss for six months in 2016 and is preparing for his 31st paid contest, but has yet to be told of an opponent for a four-rounder.

Tickets for the show at Fenton Manor, priced at £30 standard and £60 ringside, are still available. For more information, call Rob on 07769 254 545 or Sam on 07585 906 792.
