Paul Lambert is confident Villa will be able to keep the trio of top players left in limbo by the club's sale process.

World Cup star Ron Vlaar, striker Gabby Agbonlahor and midfielder Fabian Delph are all into the final year of their contracts with no signs of a new offer from the club.

Agents of all three players were expected to begin talks this summer but Randy Lerner's decision to slap a 'For Sale' sign on the club has brought a halt to that.

But Villa boss Lambert moved to ease the worries of fans fearing all three could be picked off on the transfer market.

He said: "I had to get the staff sorted out first. That will take its course. The main thing is to get the staff together. Once we come back on Monday then things will start to roll.

"I don't think anybody will go without me saying so. I think the lads are happy here and want to get going again.

"Things like that will happen soon."

Vlaar will be attracting interest after impressing during Holland's march to a World Cup quarter-final showdown with Costa Rica.
