'A lot of negativity': Ryan Mason takes aim at 'outside' noise and makes West Brom player fighting statement
Ryan Mason took aim at the 'outside negativity' around his future and Albion's situation - after his side produced a superb second half display to beat Sheffield United.
On the back of a tough week which saw Albion lose the seventh away game on the bounce on the road at Southampton - Albion returned to home soil to face an in-form Blades side.
After an abject first period - Albion fired out of the blocks in the second half as Aune Heggebo and Karlan Grant fired them to a 2-0 win.
It could have been more if Albion had taken their chances - and Mason was quick to praise his side for taking their chances and continuing their good home form.
However, he also took an aim at the 'outside negativity' he is asked about in the press - and insists his players are still on board and fighting.
He said: “We played a mature game, you could feel a bit of anxiety in the first half.
“I’m super proud of the effort the player put in - second half we were really, really good and could have scored a few more goals.
“Goals change games, the momentum changes and the first one was outstanding, Aune is in a really good moment.
“I’m very happy for the players and the fans because they helped us in the second half.
“There’s a lot of negativity from the outside I'm hearing when I speak to you guys (the media) but we're not in a terrible place.
“You win two or three games in a row and the feeling outside changes but internally the players are still there, they still believe, still running, still fighting and they deserved that today.”
