'Exactly what we did': Daniel Kanu praises Walsall display and wants FA Cup display to aid league form

Charlton loanee Daniel Kanu scored his first-ever FA Cup goal by powering the ball into the top corner from the left of the area.

The 20-year-old spoke of the group’s incentive to utilise this game to bounce back after back-to-back defeats in League Two.

The loanee said: "It’s something that we spoke about before the game because in the league things haven’t gone our way in the last couple of matches, so we looked at this as an opportunity to get things right.

“We wanted to take that going back into the league campaign, and that’s exactly what we did. It was a very professional performance.”

“I think everyone saw when we came out in the second half, we came out all guns blazing and got the second goal. From there, we were quite comfortable.”

The Saddlers continue to battle on multiple fronts, with boss Mat Sadler highlighting the importance of an FA Cup run.

The boss said: “We want to do well in all the competitions we’re in. The FA Cup is slightly different, though, we always want to do well in that because there is always that added bonus of TV being here and the money that’s being accrued. Financially, it’s good for the club.”
