The 23-year-old frontman is on the radar of several clubs across Europe after enjoying the best season of his young career, scoring 13 goals in 33 appearances.

Reports in France claim the Baggies and Watford have both been monitoring his progress as they plot their transfer strategies for the summer window.

Albion are yet to make a signing since appointing Ryan Mason as their new boss earlier in the month and incomings will to a large extent be dictated by outgoings.

Defender Semi Ajayi was one of three players to leave following the end of their contract and has become the first to find a new club, after agreeing a deal with the Baggies’ Championship rivals Hull.

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland is among Albion’s forward targets but yet to decide on his future, with the offer of a new contract on the table at Tynecastle.

Liverpool’s Nat Phillips is among the defenders to be linked with a move to The Hawthorns.

Ajayi spent six years with the Baggies and was part of the team which won promotion back to the Premier League in 2020. But he missed much of last season through injury.

He said: “I had a really good six years at West Brom but it’s exciting to have a new challenge now.

“I’m coming in with a lot of hunger to prove myself again and do as well as I can as a Hull City player.”
