Ajax man the latest defender to be linked with West Brom
Albion are tracking Ajax centre-back Jakov Medic as they seek defensive reinforcements this summer.
The 26-year-old Croat is reported to be on the club’s shortlist, though they would face competition from Championship rivals Norwich over any move.
Medic joined Ajax from St Pauli two years ago but has made just nine appearances for the Dutch giants and spent last season back in Germany, on loan with VFL Bochum.
Reports in Holland claim Ajax are willing to sell Medic, a former Croatia under-21 international, for around £2million. It is Norwich who are currently considered favourites for his signature.
Albion are understood to be in the market for a centre-back following the departure of Semi Ajayi at the end of the season.
Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has also been mooted as a potential target. The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Derby, has just a year left to run on his contract at Anfield and a number of Championship clubs are thought to have expressed an interest.
Albion's work in transfer window will largely be dictated by outgoings with Ajayi, midfielder John Swift and winger Grady Diangana the only ones to leave on free transfers this summer.
