The 28-year-old will join the Bears at the end of the season, after agreeing an all formats deal at Edgbaston.

Known as “The man who makes things happen” by Yorkshire supporters, Leeds-born Thompson has been a mainstay of his home county’s side since making his senior debut in 2018.

"I'm incredibly excited to be joining Warwickshire and starting this new chapter,” he said.

“While it was a really tough decision to leave my home county of Yorkshire, the clear vision for the club and the opportunity to play alongside a number of familiar faces make this a truly exciting move for me.

“I'm genuinely looking forward to contributing here and for this next chapter of my career at Edgbaston.”

Thompson, currently out injured with a side strain after a strong start to the summer, has taken 322 wickets in all formats and is also a prodigious lower-order hitter, with a highest first-class score of 98.

Warwickshire first-team coach, Ian Westwood, said: “Jordan is a three-dimensional, multi-format player who will be a great addition to our squad both on and off the field. He’s a quality performer who I believe still has his best days in front of him.

“He’s known for his competitiveness and thrives on being involved in big moments on the field. We can’t wait to welcome him to the Bears.”

Warwickshire's new performance director, James Thomas, added: “Jordan is a great fit for Warwickshire’s ambition to build a modern, adaptable squad that's capable of challenging for success in all formats.

“He brings proven quality in both red and white-ball cricket and valuable overseas franchise experience, which adds depth to our squad and strengthens our identity for the future.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jordan to the Bears family—a player of his calibre and character will be a fantastic asset both on and off the field.”
