Aston Villa 2024-25 season ratings: Who was the highest-rated player of the campaign?
The 2024-25 season was among the most memorable in Villa’s recent history.

Unai Emery’s team reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, coming close to knocking out eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in a 5-4 aggregate thriller.
They also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and though they fell short of securing a return to the Champions League, Villa were able to qualify for Europe for the third season running.
Over the course of the campaign the Express & Star has rated the players out of 10 on a match-by-match basis. Here are the top 10 performers:
Youri Tielemans - 6.95
It was absolutely no surprise when the Belgium international swept the boards at Villa’s end of season awards, winning both the players’ and supporters’ player of the year prizes. Having been something of a squad player during his first campaign at Villa Park, after being signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, the exit of Douglas Luiz allowed Tielemans to take a more prominent role and he duly grasped it. Would have been the only player to start every Premier League match but for a calf injury suffered just weeks from the end of the campaign.
Tyrone Mings - 6.9
Considering the centre-back feared he might never play again as recently as 12 months ago, during a laborious recovery from the knee injury suffered on the opening day of the 2023-24 season, his performances on his return bordered on the remarkable. Barring one infamous aberration during a Champions League match in Brugge, it never really looked like he had been away. Villa’s record with him in the team during the second half of the campaign was excellent.
