Aston Villa agree deal for highly-rated teenage striker
Villa have agreed a deal to sign teenage striker Zepiqueno Redmond on a free transfer from Feyenoord.
The 18-year-old has agreed a four-year deal and will officially join when his contract with the Dutch club expires at the end of next month.
Redmond made his senior debut for Feyenoord in November and also made two appearances in the Champions League.
A prolific scorer in youth football, Villa consider him a promising talent and saw off competition from AC Milan in order to secure his signature.
Redmond’s ability to operate anywhere across the forward line is thought to have been of particular appeal.
Recruiting some of the best young talent, both from the UK and abroad, has been a key part of Villa’s strategy in recent years and if anything the policy has accelerated since the arrival of Unai Emery as manager.
A deal to sign Turkey under-21 international defender Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa was agreed during the January window and he too will arrive at Bodymoor in July.
The club are also working to complete a move for highly-rated midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg.
Nypan has drawn comparisons with Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard and is considered among the most coveted young players in Europe.
