Sunderland secured their passage to the top flight with a win over Sheffield United, while Charlton Athletic confirmed their return to the second tier as they beat Leyton Orient.

So the Championship line-up has been confirmed, with Albion fans facing some different away days to those of previous years.

Wrexham will compete in the division for the first time, offering fans the chance to visit the Racecourse Ground, while there is the return of the short trip to Birmingham City.

So how have the relegation and promotion confirmations impacted on the away days and the distances Albion fans will need to travel?

In terms of the season 2024/25, Albion fans had to travel a total of 5,280 miles across the 23 different away fixtures.

That works out as an average of 230 miles per round trip for an individual away day.

This season, fans will be boosted by having to travel almost 500 miles less, owing to the teams who have left and entered the division.

In total, every away game would amount to 4,784, which takes the average round trip travel mileage down to 208.

The drop in figures is owing more to the relegated sides, with Luton Town, Plymouth Argyle and Cardiff City dropping out of the division.

Plymouth was the longest away trip Albion faced last season, and that has now been replaced by Middlesbrough, which is a 378 mile round trip.

Coming up, Birmingham represents just a 24 mile all in journey, while Wrexham is just 67 miles from The Hawthorns.

The short trip to Birmingham replaces the 27 mile one way trip to Coventry, which was he shortest visit last season.

And of the relegated sides into the division, only Ipswich Town represents a journey of more than 100 miles in one direction.
